How to choose your shirt size and fit?

The fit, before the size

Before even talking about size, we must talk about fit. At Figaret, the men's shirt comes in three fits. The slim fit follows the lines of the body and narrows at the waist for a clean silhouette, particularly suited to tall and slim builds. The semi-fitted cut, designed to adapt to all body types, offers volume and comfort without ever appearing too defined: it is the brand's signature fit and the one used for the majority of models. The straight, or classic, fit uses two darts at the back to prioritize ease: a loose cut designed primarily for comfort.

Shirt size, a precise adjustment

A men's shirt size is traditionally measured by neck circumference, expressed in centimeters. But a good fit is also verified in three other areas: the chest circumference, which should never pull between the buttons; the sleeve length, which should cover the wrist without going past it when the arm is extended; and the torso length, so that the shirt stays tucked into the trousers even when moving.

Sleeves and cuffs, the detail that changes everything

At Figaret, two sleeve lengths allow the shirt to be precisely adjusted for both long and shorter arms. As for the cuff, the single, buttoned cuff embodies everyday simplicity, while the French cuff, fastened with cufflinks, gives the shirt a dressier look.

The collar, a shirt's discreet signature

The Figaret collar, present on a large number of the house's models, stands out as a signature recognizable among all others. Some iconic shirts feature their own collars: the straight spread collar of the Carl shirt, neither too thin nor too wide (3.5 cm), is suitable for any situation, while the Victorian collar of the Greta shirt, delicately retro, is for a more assertive look.

Try on, adjust, repeat

The best way to choose your shirt size is still by trying it on, shirt on your shoulders, buttoned all the way to the top. It is at that precise moment that you feel if a cut is made for you — and it is this attention to detail, more than any measurement on a tape measure, that distinguishes a well-chosen shirt from one that is simply worn.
