THE FABRIC GUIDE

Fabrics are at the very heart of our shirts.

Carefully selected from trusted suppliers, they have been enhanced by the expertise of our artisans since 1968.

We prioritize the most beautiful and sustainable. In addition to favoring natural fibers (cotton, cashmere or linen), 96% of our materials are certified — meeting high quality standards that guarantee ethics and safety.

Each material is also distinguished by its construction, or "weave", which defines the visual appearance of the shirt and guides its use according to the seasons and moments of life.

  • COTTON

Cotton is a natural plant fiber, prized for its softness, breathability, and strength. Harvested from the cotton plant's flower, it is spun and then woven to create fabrics suitable for numerous uses. Versatile and comfortable, cotton fiber is ideal for making everyday clothing, combining comfort, durability, and elegance.

  • GIZA 87 COTTON

Giza 87 takes its name from the year it was approved. It is grown in a very small region on the banks of the Nile in Egypt, which benefits from fertile soil and ideal humidity for cotton cultivation. It is a superior quality fiber (the longest in the world), for luxurious and resistant cotton, with enhanced luster and whiteness.

  • SILK

Silk is a natural fiber of animal origin, made from the thread secreted by a caterpillar, the silkworm. A noble fabric of great fineness, it is renowned for its hypoallergenic, thermoregulating and insulating properties. Light and fluid, it is particularly suitable for elegant garments, which it enhances with its natural sheen and soft feel.

  • VISCOSE

Sometimes called "artificial silk," viscose is a fiber of plant origin derived from cellulose extracted from wood. Fluid, light, and shiny, it offers a soft touch and an elegant drape.

Please note: viscose may shrink when washed but returns to its original shape when ironed.

  • MERINO WOOL

Merino wool is a natural fiber from Merino sheep, mainly raised in Australia and New Zealand. Very fine and softer than traditional wool, it can be worn directly against the skin. Breathable and thermoregulating, it offers ideal comfort for elegant and functional pieces.

  • VIRGIN WOOL

Virgin wool comes from the first shearing of a sheep and has not been treated or recycled, which gives it its fineness and softness. At Figaret, we select fabrics made in Biella, in the Italian Alps, where clothmakers are renowned for the quality of their wool and the use of pure Alpine water for washing and dyeing.

  • CASHMERE

Cashmere is an exceptional natural fiber, derived from the very fine down of cashmere goats. Incomparably soft and light, it offers remarkable warmth while remaining breathable. Rare and sought-after, it provides luxurious comfort and refined elegance.

  • LINEN

Linen is a plant fiber extracted from the stem of the flax plant. Strong and naturally shiny, it produces cool and absorbent fabrics. At Figaret, our linen is primarily grown in Normandy and Belgium, then spun in Eastern Europe. Its cultivation, tied to specific climatic conditions, cannot be relocated.

  • LYOCELL

Lyocell (or Tencel) is a fiber obtained from wood pulp, from which cellulose is extracted. It creates a fabric that is both durable and fluid, easy to de-wrinkle, thermoregulating, and naturally odor-resistant.
